Royal Portrush Golf Club [map]

Dunluce course : One of Irelands most famous links courses. The course is laid out in a marvellous stretch of natural golfing country. Through a tangle of sandhills the course threads its way, with the sweeping contours of dunes lending infinite variety to the game. Situated east of Portrush occupying a triangle of giant sandhills, from the highest point of which is an amazing varied prospect. The hills of Donegal in the west, the Isle of Islay and southern Hebrides in the north with the Giants Causeway and the skerries to the east.

Valley course : The Valley lies between the East Strand and the Dunluce course. It is the home of Royal Portrush Ladies Club and the affiliated Rathmore Golf Club. Its characteristics are very much that of a links, undulating sandhills, remarkably dry and in some places below sea level.

Gracehill Golf Club is only 5 minutes drive from The Sheddings. It is a beautiful 18 hole parkland golf course, situated in a village called Stranocum near Ballymoney, County Antrim. The course offers golfers the opportunity to play an American style course with many water features complimented by stunning mature woodland. For golfers wishing to experience a challenging round in beautiful rural surroundings will find Gracehill Golf Club an ideal choice.

The Riverside & Strand courses : Open links courses giving magnificent views of the Donegal Hills, the rolling Atlantic, Strand beach and the River Bann. The championship standard Strand course was opened in 1992 and presents a truly challenging round of golf amongst classic links and numerous sand dunes. The Riverside course has been extended to 18 holes, with extensive bunkers and spectacular water feature offers a worthy if slightly less challenging alternative to the Strand course. The old course also held qualifying rounds of the ‘Open’ in 1951. It has hosted other events such as the Irish Professionals and Irish Amateur Close.

Situated in the seaside village of Castlerock, a true links course, with two courses - eighteen holes and nine holes. The main feature is the 4th hole with a burn on the left and a railway on the right ! The club is renowned for its good greens which are kept to a high standard the whole year round. There are also superb views to Donegal and over to Scotland. Over the past 100 years the Castlerock Golf Club has frequently played host to the country’s National Championships both amateur and professional. The natural beauty and the breathtaking views make this golf course a must play on any visitors itinery.
