Staying at The Sheddings you will be ideally situated to many of the excellent attractions that the Causeway Coast and North Antrim presents. We have tried to provide as much information as possible about each of the local attractions we have listed, please click on the name to find out more inormation.

Places of interest

Giant’s Causeway [map]
Ireland's top tourist attraction and world heritage site situated near the famous town of Bushmills. The world famous Giant's Causeway displays formations of unusual six sided basalt columns and has a wealth of local and natural history. There is a visitor centre with AV theatre and tourist information and a National Trust shop and tea room.

Bushmills Distillery [map]
Experience how the world famous Bushmills whiskey is made, tour the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery before sampling Irish Malt Whiskey. Guided tours are available (see the Bushmills website for availability) along with a café, souvenir shop and an AV presentation.

Leslie Hill Open Farm [map]
Just down the road from The Sheddings, Leslie Hill farm offers visitors the chance to experience lovely wooded parkland dotted with wild flowers, shrubs, peaceful lakes and a chance to experience living history through the farm buildings, machines, carriages and cars from an age gone by.

Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge [map]
A precarious rope bridge which crosses a 24m deep and 18m wide chasm which gives access to a salmon fishery. There are stunning views over the sea to the Scottish Coast. There are also coastal walks along the limestone headland.

Mussenden Temple [map]
Located near Castlerock and set on the edge of a sheer drop stands this beautiful 18th Century folly, originally inspired by the Tivoli Temple of Vesta. It is a much photographed landmark built close to the extensive gardens, grounds and forest of the ruined Downhill Castle.

Dunluce Castle [map]
Located between Portrush and Bushmills, this romantic and picturesque ruin of a 14th century castle is perched on a dramatic cliff top and is one of the most photographed scenes in Ireland.

Rathlin Island [map]
Rathlin Island lies 6 miles off Ballycastle and 16 miles from the Mull of Kintyre in Scotland, it is eight miles long and less than one mile wide. The island is inhabited by about 100 residents whose ancestors have resided on Rathlin for hundreds of years. Rathlin has spectacular cliff top walkways, caves and ample wild nature to view making it very popular with birdwatchers, geologists, botanists, divers, anglers and anyone with a passion for wild and rugged scenery. Just down the road from The Sheddings, this award winning caravan park and marina is situated on the shores of the picturesque Lower River Bann. The complex incorporates a boat park, slipway, and marina with overnight berthing facilities. It is a excellent location to fish, sail, canoe or, if you dare, the onsite water ski school offers many water based activities including water skiing, banana boat rides and cruising. Other facilities are available including a children’s play park, picnic area, nature walks and much more.

Situated half way between Coleraine and Ballymoney, Ski Supreme offers a variety of watersports including waterskiing, banana boating, speedboat rides and Canadian paddleboats. The complex also incorporates a 160 metre outdoor Kart Track with adult and kids karts. All equipment is supplied as well as showers, barbecue and volleyball facilities.
